Lateral Flow Components

Cover Tapes

Seal and protect the functional layers of your assay while maintaining capillary flow integrity. Custom-printed options, adjustable per roll, enable branding, test line indicators, or alignment markings, without compromising performance.

For more than 25 years, Kenosha has supported diagnostic manufacturers with high-quality adhesive materials, including precision-engineered cover tapes designed for consistent and reliable lateral flow performance.

Our cover tapes protect the test and control lines while allowing controlled air exchange and stable sample flow. Each film is optimized for transparency, stability, and lamination performance under ISO 9001:2025–certified production standards.

What are cover tapes in lateral flow tests?

Cover tapes serve as the protective top layer of a lateral flow assay, sealing the functional zones while maintaining controlled capillary flow and preventing evaporation. Kenosha offers custom-printed cover tapes, enabling branding, labeling, or functional markings such as test line indicators, batch codes, or assembly alignment guides. Printing can be individually adjusted per roll, providing unmatched flexibility for OEMs managing multiple product lines or assay variants.

Vented and non-vented options are also available when specific airflow or humidity control is required, ensuring reproducible results across diverse test designs.

Material options: vented & non-vented films

Kenosha specializes in custom-printable films and laminates engineered for use as cover layers in lateral flow and diagnostic applications.

Our portfolio includes:

  • Polyester and polypropylene films coated with medical-grade pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA)
  • Custom colors, finishes, and print designs, adjustable per roll for multi-SKU production
  • High registration accuracy for fine alignment of printed features
  • Vented and non-vented options for controlled airflow when required
  • Roll or sheet formats ready for clean-room conversion

Each film is engineered for optimal adhesion, flatness, and clean release during lamination and assembly, ensuring consistent optical and functional performance.

Adhesive and lamination options

Kenosha’s adhesive systems are formulated for compatibility with membranes, conjugate pads, and backing cards, supporting stable assay performance.

Our lamination process ensures:

  • Even adhesive distribution and uniform coating thickness
  • Smooth, bubble-free bonding for consistent layer integrity
  • Excellent chemical resistance and dimensional stability

All production steps follow a documented ISO 9001:2025 Quality Management System, ensuring traceability and medical-grade consistency.

Custom sizes and roll formats

Every diagnostic project has unique design and labeling needs. Kenosha supplies cover tapes:

  • In custom widths, thicknesses, and roll diameters
  • With or without venting for airflow control
  • With variable printing per roll, enabling product differentiation, branding, or lot identification
  • Cut to fit both automated and manual assembly lines
  • Available in prototype and production quantities

This flexibility supports R&D development, validation, and large-scale manufacturing—all with consistent performance and reliable quality.

Quality & Certification

Kenosha operates under an ISO 9001:2025–certified Quality Management System, ensuring consistent quality, documentation, and process control across all manufacturing steps.

Each batch is fully traceable and tested for thickness, adhesion, and visual integrity, meeting the stringent quality expectations of the diagnostic and medical materials industry.
